Arhu is a prominent character throughout Divinity series, first appearing as a white cat in Divine Divinity, a wizard in Cyseal who called for Source Hunter's help for investigation of the murder of Councillor Jake in Divinity: Original Sin, one of the keepers of The Path of Blood's secrets in Divinity: Original Sin II. He also made a cameo appearance at the end of Divinity II: Flames of Vengeance[1] and is present in Divinity: Original Sin II Godwoken.

Background[]

Oh, I am but a wizard, a guardian of man and beast; and indeed I am both.

Once the Source Hunters had liberated Fort Joy and returned Braccus to the mainland, Arhu's first reaction was to rescue his love, knowing she would be killed by the hunters upon discovery. He aided her escape and she became the phantom that gave Phantom Forest its name.[2]

By 4 AR, Arhu had taken up residence in Cyseal, using his human and feline forms to the best of their abilities (although feline is his preferred form). Assisting the town with its defence against the undead and orcs, not all of his machinations have worked out as the Arhu Sparkmaster 5000 is currently running rampant. Furthermore, Arhu is operating as ZixZax's agent in the mortal realm and is now closely aligned with Zandalor, a wizard of great renown. As the Source Hunters approach the town to investigate the murder of Councillor Jake, he makes himself as indispensable to them as possible, assisting them with infiltrating Silverglen and Hunter's Edge before finally making his way to the End of Time to join ZixZax and the Weaver of Time.

His past finally catches up to him as the Hunters approach the Phantom Forest, coming clean about his past to them before they can discover the truth themselves.

1222 years later, Arhu encounters a Marked One (Lucian, but this unknown to him at the time) unconscious on the road. He leads Joram, one of the healers to his body before departing. Upon Zandalor's disappearance, he takes on the role of the court cat at Stormfist Castle and is known as Ernie, a name which he himself does not approve of, so as to be able to help locate his wizard friend. Following the Marked One's departure from the castle, Arhu's actions become hazy again, until he appears in Iona's dungeon to aid Lucian's escape.

In the years after Lucian's ascension, Arhu aligns himself with the Divine, taking a direct role in the military operations; most notably the decision to use deathfog, displaying concerns that it could enter friendly territory.[3] In addition to this, he is the mechanist behind Lucian's tomb in Arx following the Divine One's staged death in 1242 AD. During this time he had overseen the Cathedral and kept most of his men as well as magisters from visiting the Crypt of Lucian.

On evening of 7 Vernis 1242 AD, Arhu was invited by Linder Kemm to his estate where he would discuss his possible admittance to Lucian's Crypt. There he was abducted and in form of a cat transported beneath Kemms Vault where the Black Ring cultists tortured his soul until he was freed by the Godwoken.

Although still present in Rivellon in 1300 AD, Arhu was rarely seen, with a single brief siting after the defeat of Damian and his flying fortresses.[1]

Canon Conflicts[]

This information conflicts with the current canon of the Divinity Series. This information should be considered canon in the title it is a part of and associated with only.

In Arhu's debut in Divine Divinity his was stated to originally have been a warlock who was permanently polymorphed into a cat. This has since been superseded by Original Sin where his feline form is his original state and his human form granted by polymorphism.
