Scoundrel Skills have access to the most Status Effects besides Witchcrafts, but deal damage as they inflict them. With almost half of the skills requiring a dagger to be equipped, this is a skill tree best dipped into for Fast Track, Walk in Shadows, and Cloak and Dagger, and maybe even Charming Touch if you are focusing Dexterity. Otherwise the damage is lower than the other physical abilities, and often if you have a dagger equipped for 2 AP to attack, attacking 4 times and using Daggers Drawn exactly equal. The same skill in Man-at-Arms gives 4 attacks on weapons that cost 4 AP to attack, granting 2 free attacks. Also, it's one summon spawns in a range where if it explodes before you or it can move, it will hit you.
As perception is very important for an Expert Marksman synergy range back-up, the usefulness is diminished because backstabs always use a 100% crit modifier. A good use of synergy for a backstabbing Scoundrel is with the Aerotheurge skills, where if dipped 2 points you can use the Lightning Strike for aoe damage and leaves you behind an enemy to start backstabs, also Become Air increases your survivability for when you are stuck behind enemy lines. The Teleport skill can be used on the Wind-Up Toy summon to devastating effect which at higher levels becomes one of the best damaging aoe and single target combos (13 speed is needed for the combo and starting combat with fast track or other haste effect).
The only usefulness of the Daggers Drawn skill is that it will hit with backstabs if in position just like a normal backstab hit and it could be used before combat, this is debatable since the skill will be interrupted by combat start most of the times and it will most likely not hit the target 4 times as intended. It does however allow you to make 4 attacks with a weapon unusable due to high AP requirements.
Remarkably, the highest level 5 of Scoundrel is not required by any skill and only unlocks the talent "Headstrong" which makes you more resistant to being immobilized.
